Hitching
Guides

|
How do A-Q Hitching Guides
take the hassle out of hitching?
The reason hitching is a hassle is that you cannot see
either of the two objects you are trying to align! These
bright orange guides transfer the locations of the two objectshitch
and couplerinto your line of sight.
Attach as shown. Watch them as you back. You may
prefer to use rear view mirror or look directly
backeither
way works. When guides touch, coupler is directly above
ball.

How do the
Hitching
Guides fasten to the
hitch/trailer? Is it a permanent installation, or is it
removable?
-
Guides are attached magnetically while hitching,
then removed for driving.
-
Swivel bases permit mounting to horizontal,
vertical or angled surface.
-
Tube telescopes on rod permitting height
adjustment from 28" to 42".
-
Aluminum rods can be reshaped as needed for a
custom fit.

Do I need the extender
kit?
Hitching Guides extend (telescope) from about 28"
to about 42" (orange tubes slide on rods). They are designed
to adjust for any vehicle from a car to a full-sized
pickup.
Extender kits provide an additional 10" and are
intended for extra tall trucks and RVs. What matters is the
distance between hitch and viewable
area.
To check your vehicle, measure from the hitch to
the area you will be able to view. Allow for 4"- 6" of tube to
be visible.

Can I use A-Q's with a van?
Yes. If your
van has a one-piece rear window, put one guide on the hitch, one on the
trailer coupler. If your van has dual rear doors so the view down the
center is blocked, either back with doors open or attach both hitching
guides to the trailer coupler in such a way that one is visible in each
van window.
Will
these
Hitching Guides work on a
vehicle with no rear
windows?
Yes. Vans without windows in the
rear doors can be backed with doors open. For vehicles without a view out
the back, attach guides to locations on vehicle and trailer that are
visible in side mirrors.
What about with
Gooseneck
Trailers?
With a gooseneck you don't need
to see where your trailer is, you need to see where the hitch ball is
behind that toolbox or whatever. The following method works great:
 Stick
the magnetic bases on the left and right side of the
ball. The guides each have a 4 inch offset or "jog". Aim both offsets
toward the cab of your truck.
The two guides and the hitch
ball now form about a 6" triangle.
 Telescope orange sliders as
needed to view from cab.
 Back until gooseneck touches
guides.

How can they help me back with a trailer?
Trailers can disappear behind your vehicle, but guides
attached to trailer
fenders will be
visible in your side mirrors. |
Can Hitching
Guides help with
boat
launching and loading?
Yes.
Attach one guide to each fender before backing the trailer into the
water. When the trailer disappears under water, the guides will
still be visible from the boat. |
