Shipping & Pick-up Information
Note: Placement of an order constitutes agreement of
our delivery acceptance terms below. Please read before completing your
order.
Will Call (Warehouse Pick-up)
If you choose to pick up your mats at one of our warehouses:
-
Call ahead to get
directions, hours of operation, and to schedule an appointment.
-
Rarely is a
warehouse open on weekends or holidays.
-
Usually mats
will be ready the next business day after your place your order. It is
possible, but not probable, that they will be available the same day.
-
Our warehouses are
typically large industrial operations with many trucks and rail cars to
handle every day. They are NOT retail stores or showrooms. Warehouse
personnel do not have product information, samples, prices or installers.
This information must be obtained directly from us.
-
Call for your mats
in a suitable vehicle, one that can safely handle the weight you have
purchased and that can be safely and efficiently loaded. The warehouse
will bring the mats to the loading door where you have been directed to
park.
-
Typically our mats
are packed on wooden pallets and vehicles that can accept a pallet will
make the job of getting your mats easier and faster.
-
It will be
appreciated if stock trailers have been swept or sanitized before coming
to the warehouse.
-
If ropes or tarps or
tie down straps are required, bring them. The warehouse will not have any.
-
Warehouse personnel
will make a cheerful and reasonable effort to assist you, but their task
essentially ends when they bring the pallet/mats to the loading dock.
Discuss your needs for loading assistance when calling for the
appointment.
Delivery by Common Carrier
or Factory Truck
Many of our mats are heavy, some weighing 100 lbs (45 kg) and are commonly
48" x 72"
(122cm x 183cm). For our largest mats it will be best if you have two
persons to handle them.
Common Carrier
If the mats you purchased are being delivered and the carrier is anybody
other than UPS:
-
If the mats you
purchased are being delivered to you by a "Common Carrier" (a licensed
over-the-road commercial trucking company), the size of the delivery
vehicle can vary widely. Usually, the truck will be approx. 1/2 the size
and weight of a "factory" truck. Summit has no way of controlling
Carriers, but we make an effort to specify trucks that are more
maneuverable.
-
Common
Carriers typically, but not always, have pallet jacks and power lift gates
to facilitate deliveries to destinations that do not have loading docks or
material handling equipment. However, the driver's obligation is limited
to getting the mats only to the rear of the truck or onto the ground. IF
YOU NEED delivery inside your building or if you are in a major
metropolitan area there will be delivery surcharges! And they can be
substantial.
-
We will ask the
Carrier to call you for a Delivery Appointment. This will automatically
delay delivery 24 hrs to establish the appointment. Discuss your needs
and/or limitations, if any, with the dispatcher calling for the
appointment. If you do not return a dispatcher's call, expect a delay in your
delivery.
Factory Truck
-
If the order is
coming on one of our "factory truck" (usually 100 or more mats), these are
very large, long tractors and trailers such as you typically see on
highways. The "rigs' are often 75' (22+ meters) in length. Factory trucks
are vans, not flat bed trailers. They need a 100' (30+ meter) area to turn
around. They are heavy- as much as 75,000 lbs. (34,000 kg) and can get
easily stuck in soft ground or can damage driveway pavement that is not
commercial grade. DO NOT expect the driver to back the truck more than
1/8th mile (.2 krn).
-
They DO NOT have
pallet jacks or power lift gales on hoard. Many over-the-road drivers are
Spanish or French Canadian speaking and may have limited English language
ability. Their job is to get the mats to you safely and on time. It is
your lob to unload them from the truck.
-
If you do not have a
loading dock and/ior material handling equipment such as a lift (fork)
truck or a pallet jack, you must notify us NOW! The driver will allow one
hour to unload the truck. If it takes you longer we will pass along to you
the US $60/hr. Driver Wait Time assessed to us. Likewise any costs as a
result of you being late for the delivery appointment and/or rescheduling
charges due to inadequate receiving conditions at your farm or business
will be charged to you.
Delivery
Acceptance
We cannot accept financial responsibility if
damage or shortage is not
noted at time of delivery!!
This means if an item is damaged and you do not note the damage on the
freight bill, you will be responsible for filing the damage claim with the
freight company and if they do not honor the claim, we cannot help you.
Make a note on the freight bill of any
shortages or damage - it will make a big difference if a claim is filed at a
later date for hidden damages!

changed schedules affects the shipment of your order, you will be notified.

property is not accessible by motor freight, we cannot be responsible
for any additional charges incurred to deliver the freight.
-
Drivers are NOT
required to offload equipment.
Please make sure that you have the equipment or manpower necessary to assist
in delivery.
-
If you require a
lift gate service to offload the equipment, they may charge you from $75
to $150 extra. The extra charge is your responsibility.
-
We do not guarantee
delivery dates! We have a very good
record of getting motor freight shipments to you in 10 to 14 working days,
but there are times when it will take longer. If you HAVE to have an
item by a certain date, tell us when you place your order. If we feel
we cannot get it to you by the specified date, we will notify you and cancel
your order.

Installation
The most critical part of installing mats is in the preparation of your sub
floor or base. Read and follow our instructions carefully. Ask us for
guidance or refer to our considerable literature. Take your time; do not
hurry the task or you will be dissatisfied.
* When cutting mats, use sharp blades and a steel straight edge for best
results. Safety first!
* Most room dimensions are not as true as our mats. Take animal stalls for
example: seldom is a "standard" 12' x12' box stall a true 12' x 12'.
Frequently you will have to trim mats or mats will not cover the room area
exactly as you anticipated. Trimming and fitting mats is not a difficult
task but takes some care and planning. Measure twice; cut once.
* If you ordered interlocking mats, be sure you understand the type and
location of the edge tabs. Unless otherwise specified interlocking mats will
have tabs on all 4 sides for maximum flexibility and so you can add mats in
the future if the room expands or you put them in a new location.
* An interlocking mat loses dimension everywhere it is zipped (connected)
together. Compared to mats with straight edges, the finished size will be
slightly smaller.
