Most frequently asked questions about the arctic
mosquito killing system
|
- How does the Mosquito Killing System
work?
The system creates a source of fluctuating heat and
releases pure CO2 (carbon Dioxide) in the proportions that the
female blood sucking mosquito is genetically programmed to find.
The MKS mimics the mosquitos prey by producing different Body
Signatures, such as, temperature and breathing of humans,
poultry, livestock and pets. The MKS cycles every six to nine
minutes, ranging from 85-110 degrees, producing the different
body signatures, and releases a scientifically measured plume of
750 CC of CO2 every minute to simulate breathing. Mosquitoes
also have infrared vision, therefore the fluctuating heat
chamber in the MKS uses the mosquitoes thermal imagery
(Infrared Vision) to attract them to the trap. Once near the
trap, the mosquito will also detect a slight air current
triggering yet another instinct that movement means a meal. The
system also has a textured surface to simulate skin. Mosquitoes
land and are super-attracted to the unit. They will even attempt
to probe the unit before being vacuumed in.
- What insects will
the Mosquito Killing System eradicate?
Insects that are attracted to heat and CO2, which is
primarily the female mosquito, No-See-Ums, gnats and biting
flies
- Does the Mosquito Killing System
harm the environment in any way?
No, unlike those systems that use propane or chemicals,
the MKS and its CO2 emission is like simply having a person or
pet in your yard.
- Does the placement of the MKS affect
the results?
Yes. Mosquitoes look for the easiest source of heat
and CO2, so the closer to the source of the mosquitoes, the
better it works.
- Is it possible to control mosquitoes
in an area?
Yes. Studies have shown that 90% of the biting
mosquitoes live within about 100 yards of where they hatch,
therefore the local population can be drastically reduced.
- Is the Mosquito Killing System
expensive to use?
No. CO2 and electricity are the only expense to run
the unit. Costs for each of these vary by market. Electrical
usage is similar to most household appliances.
- How many mosquitoes will the MKS
kill?
Specific numbers are impossible to predict. The
heavier the mosquito population, naturally, the more it will
kill. For example, in some areas the MKS will kill 200
mosquitoes per night, while in other areas the MKS will kill
15,000 mosquitoes in one night.
- Will the MKS kill all mosquitoes?
No. It will never kill all mosquitoes. The MKS
reduces the mosquito population. For example, one mosquito can
reproduce up to 3,000 offspring. So for every mosquito the MKS
kills it reduces the population by 3,000. You may also continue
to see male mosquitoes however they do not bite.
- How large an area will one MKS
protect?
The MKS will protect an area of approximately one acre
depending on breeding sites, shrubbery, fences, buildings,
environmental changes, winds and temperatures. Depending on the
size of the property and the terrain, it could take more than
one unit to reduce the mosquito population in some areas.
However, much of this is dependant more on the mosquito than it
is on the MKS. Therefore, its not whether or not the MKS
sufficiently covers one acre or not, it has to do with the
territorial instincts of the mosquito. Mosquitoes dont travel
far and they typically stay within about 100 yards of where they
hatch, thus the trap can reduce the mosquito population within
their normal travel and feeding range or territory. If that is
up to 100 or so in each direction, that means it covers
approximately one acre.
Once it has reduced the population on your property, it then
stands guard as a maintenance system working to catch and
destroy any new mosquitoes that may cross over into the
territory searching for a new nesting area or a blood meal.
- How is the MKS different from a bug
zapper?
A bug zapper operates by using light as its attractant
for all types of insects including beneficial insects but
ultimately attract very few mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are not
attracted to light therefore the MKS does not use light as an
attractant. However, mosquitoes do have infrared vision,
therefore the fluctuating heat chamber in the MKS does use the
mosquitoes thermal imagery to attract them to the trap.
- What kind of mosquitoes does the MKS
kill?
The MKS kills most species and has been tested
worldwide.
- What tests have been conducted to
prove the MKS kills mosquitoes?
Tests have been conducted by Dr. Richard Weber, PhD
Entomologist, Dr. Dan Markowski, PhD Entomologist at Vector
Disease Control, Dr. Larry Olsen, Arkansas State University in
Jonesboro; Dr. Chris Tipping, PhD Entomologist at the University
of Florida in Gainesville; University of Illinois, University of
Missouri, University of Arkansas, disease tracking agencies and
the unit has been tested in Australia, the United Kingdom,
Canada, and the United States. These tests have all proven the
MKS to be the most effective mosquito control solution
available.
Additionally, this is not a new product. Most importantly are
the thousands of residential and commercial customers worldwide
who have experienced the effectiveness of the MKS first hand.
The system is currently protecting the Belmont Park Racetrack in
NY, U.S. Postal facility at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport, Giant
Steps Daycare in AR, Professional Tennis Instruction School in
FL, Health Clinics and numerous other commercial applications as
well as thousands of residential properties worldwide.
- What happens to the dead mosquitoes?
The mosquito carcasses fall out of the unit to the
ground and are disposed of by nature. (i.e. ground insects, wind
or reintroduction back into the soil). Or they are captured by
the net when it is being utilized.
- Can the photo-sensor cell be
bypassed? How?
Yes. A plastic cap, which comes with the unit, can be
placed over the photo-sensor cell, which enables the machine to
run continuously. If bypassing the photo-sensor cell the unit
would need to be placed on a timer to reset every 5 hours by
turning the machine off for 2 minutes and then turning it back
on.
- Does the MKS require maintenance?
No. The MKS unit is maintenance free.
- How long is the power supply cord?
Is it grounded?
The power supply cord is 6 ft long. Yes, the power
supply cord is grounded.
- Will the MKS harm my kids or pets?
No. The MKS is completely safe around pets, children
and livestock.
- How does service and warranty work?
The customer will be supplied with a warranty
information card with their purchase. There is a toll free
number provided on the warranty card, with a full and complete
description of the terms and conditions of the warranty that is
provided. Once the customer calls the service center with a
question, comment or concern, they will be advised on how to
proceed.
- Does the MKS have a Money-Back
Guarantee? How does it work?
Yes. 100% GUARANTEED to kill mosquitoes or your MONEY BACK!
The only issues with this have turned out to be placement of
the unit. On occasion you will need to instruct the customer to
move the unit to a new area or if you have a service contract on
it you may choose to relocate the unit for your customer in
order to increase the kill ratio.
Also keep in mind, your customer may continue to occasionally
see mosquitoes, however they may not be the female biting
mosquito, or may have just recently entered the area.
